FIRST AID AT WORK

Level 3 Qualification (Level 6 in Scotland)
Duration: 3 Day Course

Meets the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. This comprehensive course equips staff to respond confidently and effectively to a wide range of first aid emergencies in the workplace.

PRACTICAL OUTCOMES

- Confident response to workplace emergencies including cardiac arrest, choking, and trauma
– Competent assessment and prioritisation of casualties
– Safe application of bandaging, resuscitation, and incident reporting procedures

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

– Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
– Heart attacks and chest injuries<br – Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
– Eye injuries, fractures and spinal injuries
– Choking and control of bleeding
– Diabetes, asthma, stroke and epilepsy
– Shock (including anaphylaxis) and poisoning
– Sprains, strains and burns
– Assessment of the situation
– Resuscitation and bandaging techniques

CERTIFICATION & ASSESSMENT

– Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Level 6 in Scotland) issued upon successful assessment
– Valid for 3 years
– Requalification requires completion of the 2-day FAW Re-Qual course
– Annual refresher training strongly recommended
– Assessment includes daily practical observation and written tests
– No external assessors required
